Subway Ceramic Art

Last night on my way to meet a friend I spotted this beautiful ceramic artwork adorning the walls of the Christopher Street Subway station. The images remind me of a mixture of Picasso and Chagall. Very eastern european, don't you think? The black bearded face is actually the face of the train. So creative! I think it would make a great plate design. The artist is Lee Brozgol.

I love this post. When I'm in New York I always marvel at the "lovingly appointed" details that are everywhere. I find myself wanting to point these things out to the strangers around me everywhere. I believe that it seeps into to everyone a little and helps New York to feel like such a wonderful friend.

First of all, thanks so much for the post. Secondly, before I read your comments, I thought on my own they reminded me of Chagall, and seemed Eastern European. What a great little discovery. Thanks for sharing your visions of the city with us!
