I just ordered "Drawing Comics is Easy! (Except When it's Hard) by Alexa Kitchen. This little eight year old has been called the Tiger Woods of cartooning and should be an inspiration to all hopeful artists! Since the age of five she has been publishing her own comic books with the help of her parents. Her work is a rare perspective into the mind of a child, showing what she admires and is afraid of and always exhibiting her cute sense of humor! If you take a moment to look at some of the drawings on her website you might find yourself thinking 'Hey, I used to make pictures like that too." But unlike you and me, her parents say Alexa goes through hundreds of sheets of paper a week. This little lady has already published four volumes of her work. "Publisher's Weekly" wrote that Aleksa was the "talk of the show" at the MoCCA Book Fair (New York comic book convention) in 2004 and Alexsa has been praised in print by everyone from Charles Schultz to Niel Gaiman and R. Crumb, all living comic book legends.
